Install Groups
When you manage more than a handful of OScam servers it becomes useful to group related installs together. MyOsicam install groups let you create named groups and assign installs to them. Once grouped, you can quickly filter the panel view to a subset of your fleet rather than scrolling through every install at once.
What groups are for
Groups are organisational labels — they do not change how OScam runs. Common uses:
- By geography:
datacenter-eu,datacenter-us - By customer tier:
vip-servers,standard-servers - By purpose:
production,staging,test - By operator:
managed-by-alice,managed-by-bob
An install can belong to one group at a time. Groups are shared across all operators using the same panel.
Managing groups
Group management is reached through the OSCam Installs section of the panel. Look for a Groups entry in the sidebar — on panels that do not yet show a dedicated sidebar entry, groups are managed via the install edit workflow instead.
Create a group
- Navigate to the groups management area of the panel.
- Click Create Group (or the equivalent button).
- Enter a name for the group (for example,
eu-production). - Click Save.
Rename or delete a group
- Open the group list.
- Click Edit on the group you want to rename, update the name, and save.
- To delete a group, click Delete. Installs that belonged to the group are not deleted — they simply become ungrouped.
Assigning an install to a group
- In the left sidebar, click OSCam Installs.
- Find the install you want to assign and click Edit.
- In the edit modal, select the group from the Group dropdown.
- Click Save.
After saving, the install appears in the selected group when you filter by group.
Filtering the install view by group
Once installs are assigned to groups, use the group filter on the OSCam Installs screen to narrow the displayed list. Select a group from the filter and the table updates to show only installs in that group.
This is particularly useful when targeting an operation — for example, reviewing the resource readings of all installs in a single datacenter without scrolling through the full fleet.
Groups and user creation
When creating an OScam user, the Create OSCam User modal lets you select which installs the user should be written to. If your installs are organised into groups, use the group filter to quickly identify the set of installs that should share the new user account.
